The project is located in Harkapur and Baruneshwar VDCs of Okhaldhunga district of Eastern Developement Region of Nepal. It is run-of-the-river (RoR) type project of installed capacity 3.5 MW for the given gross head of 55 m and design discharge of 8.15 m3/s at 40 % flow exceedence level.
The project is easy from accessibility and power evacuation point of view. The project site is about 20 km from Okhladhunga Bazaar. The generated energy will be fed to the switchyard of Molung Khola Hydropower Project (7 MW) through 2 km transmission line and finally generated power from both the projets will be evacuated at sub-station of Okhaldhunga district through 10.5 km long 33 kV transmission line system.
All the major components such as headrace canal, forebay are located at the right bank of Molung Khola and penstock pipe, syphon, powerhouse, tailrace and switchyard are located on right bank of Molung Khola. Headrace canal of about 273 m length continues upto forebay. Further, the penstock of length 1464 m and 2.20 m internal diameter will convey water from powerhouse to the surface powerhouse.
