Kapadigad Hydroelectric Project is a run-of-river hydropower project proposed along the Kapadigad khola in Doti District, of Mahakali Zone. The project area lies in Barchhen Village Development Committees (VDC). The project has the gross head of 170 m, installed capacity of 3.33 MW.
Water is diverted from the Kapadigad River, by constructing a permanent concrete weir. The water from the diversion weir is then diverted through the side intake on the left bank of the Kapadigad River. The water then passes to Approach canal then to the settling basin. The design discharge of the project is 3.81 m3/s. The water then passes through waterways including headrace canal, Headrace Tunnel, penstock and tailrace canal.
The headrace tunnel is 2.0 m wide and 2.0 m high, inverted D–shaped cross-section with 3.57 m2 cross section area. The total length of the headrace tunnel is 1201 m. The velocity in the headrace tunnel will be nearly 1.07 m/s during design flow.
