Upper Bhairabkunda Khola Small Hydropower Project (UBKSHP) is owned by Bright Power Company Pvt Ltd. The Upper Bhairabkunda Hydropower Project (3.75MW) is designed as a run-of-river scheme. It is situated in the Bhotekhoshi Rural Municipality, the Sindhupalchwok District, located in the Central Development Region of Nepal. The project area is positioned in the upper reaches of the Bhotekoshi River. In terms of physiography, the project area is characterized by high mountains and an elevation ranging from 1700 meters to 2200 meters above mean sea level.
The project utilizes a hydropower system comprising water intake, conveyance facilities, penstock, turbine-generator units, powerhouse, and power evacuation infrastructure. By converting the energy of flowing water into electricity, the project aims to contribute to reliable and sustainable power supply while supporting local economic development and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. The project also emphasizes responsible environmental management and efficient utilization of available water resources.
